Mineral Foundation- What's so good about it?

When I talk to my friends and clients about foundations... most seem to be on an epic quest to find the perfect product!
In 2021 most of us use makeup on daily basis, if not a tinted moisturiser, BB or sunscreen but something that will protect our skin and make it appear more flawless and more radiant than it actually is.
So what is the difference between Mineral foundations and 'regular' foundations and what benefits do they have for our skin?
The common components of mineral make-up are titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and mica, which can also be found in other makeup products in varying percentages. However, mineral formulas are commonly produced without classic irritants such as fragrances, binders, synthetic and chemical dyes, preservatives and mineral oil.
We all know our skin is the largest organ on our body, so in consideration of this and its absorption power, why would you knowingly put any potential toxins and nasties onto our skin. Mineral oils can also clog pores and aggravate the skin, making it an unhealthy option for problematic skin.
Mineral makeup is also non-comedogenic. This means that the skin can breathe and does not exacerbate existing conditions such as chronic dryness, acne or rosacea and eczema. It’s much less likely to cause a reaction in women with sensitive skin. Because it doesn’t contain silicones and oils, it won’t aggravate acne-prone skin.
Skin Care Benefits
Mineral makeup won’t take the place of your moisturizer or heavy duty sunscreen, but it does offer some excellent skin care benefits.
Since mineral foundation contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, the key broad-spectrum protectors from sun damage, it will provide a chemical free sunscreen that acts like mirrors on the skin to reflect the sun’s rays.
Many of us choose to forgo the greasy 30spf cream on our face daily because of the long term effects of clogging our pores. But mineral makeup allows the pores to breath and a uniform application of mineral makeup will provide sun protection.
How it looks
As we age, we acquire fine lines and larger pores, the surface of the skin changes with pigmentation and unevenness. Conventional foundations containing mineral oils and other ingredients may often settle in creases and small fine lines, exaggerating the appearance and making them look worse!
Natural minerals in the make-up are water resistant and 'bond' to the skin, they won’t wash away, smear or melt when you sweat so they just look better for longer and do not cake on the skin.
Many types of skin surgery and laser treatments are now popular. The problem with this is the healing stage after the procedure is finished. Many skin care professionals recommend using mineral makeup for post-procedure treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and laser resurfacing to not only effectively camouflage redness and bruising, but also to calm the skin.
Mineral make-up and professional application
One of the nicest things about mineral foundation is that it is just so versatile! I use it professionally in my kit wear it everyday myself whether I’m heading out casually or if I’m heading out for a job. The nicest summary is that it just stays put and yet feels so light and does NOT crease around my eyes or fine lines.
I use it on television newsreaders (even for HD) for models on photoshoots as well as for special events and bridal parties. It has a buildable coverage that is not cakey and blends beautifully!
